Creating space for local people to gather, learn and thrive since 1931
We are a person-centred community providing spaces for gatherings of a diverse range of groups and people from all ages, backgrounds and needs. Our aim is to provide opportunities to local residents to improve health and well being through social activities, exploring nature and learning new skills.
We have several long running projects such as the award winning Community Garden and the Lunch Club. In addition we have a Forest School, Bee Mindful bee experience education, art and craft activities, cookery, music and exercise classes and baby and toddler sessions. We also support local people and refugees by hosting St Bart’s Food Pantry. Food grown in the Community Garden is given to the Food Pantry providing fresh produce to those on low incomes.
We hire two spaces for events as well as holding our own social gatherings including making pizza in our outdoor pizza oven and hosting music on our outdoor stage in the warmer months.
As a registered Charity, we rely on funding, donations and memberships to help us achieve our aims of helping people thrive by providing learning and volunteer opportunities, teaching skills and allowing vulnerable adults and children to be in a low arousal environment to socialise and become more independent.
For many Allens Cross Community Centre is their ‘happy place”. A place to socialise, become more confident and improve their health and well being both mentally and physically.
Allens Cross Community Centre was the first of its kind to be created in the UK. You can find out more about our history here.
