Volunteer with us

We work with volunteers with a range of backgrounds and abilities. Volunteering at the garden gives people access to a green space and the opportunity to socialise with other volunteers and staff.

Volunteering opportunities

Our volunteers generally work in the garden, visiting once or twice a week to help maintain the garden, growing fruit and veg, as well as ornamental plants and flowers.

Our volunteers learn gardening skills including growing fruit and veg from seed, taking cuttings and other organic gardening practices. They are also able to get involved with projects including helping with plant sales and regular special events and open days.

If you would like to volunteer in a different capacity, please get in touch with us to discuss how we may be able to help.

We can accommodate volunteers with limitations on their physical abilities, however not all of the garden is wheelchair accessible. Part of the garden has a wheelchair friendly surface and we have a number of raised beds at different heights. If you have any additional support needs, please get in touch to discuss how we can help and facilitate you at the garden.

We are happy to welcome new volunteers to the garden. Our garden volunteer days are Mondays and Fridays, from 10am until 3pm. We also run the Men’s Shed on a Thursday. If you are interested in volunteering with us please Contact Us to find out more.

Corporate volunteering

In addition to our regular volunteers, we also welcome corporate groups to the garden to work with us. In the past, groups have helped us create Halloween decorations for our spooky holiday event, built planters and created new walkways in the garden.

Our corporate volunteers get the chance to contribute to the garden, benefiting the garden users and the local community, as well as getting out into nature and the fresh air, and building on their team work. If you are interested in arranging a team volunteer day, please get in touch with us.
