We are open on Mondays and Fridays, from 10am until 3pm. We also run the Men’s Shed on a Thursday. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please have a look at our Volunteer page for more information.

What to see in the garden

Although the garden isn’t huge, there is plenty packed in for you to see!

Mandala garden

Mandalas represent the universe or a gateway to a spiritual journey. Mandala gardens are laid out in a circular shape, with geometric beds to create the pattern. Gardens inspired by them are often used for meditation and quiet reflection. We use ours to grow a mixture of fruit, veg and ornamental plants.

Upcycled greenhouses and polytunnel

We have two greenhouses that have been constructed around the metal play equipment that was already in the garden. They have been made using all recycled material, including plastic pop bottles and re-used plastic sheeting and wood. We start our seedlings off in the greenhouses before potting them up or planting them out into the garden or our polytunnel. In our polytunnel we grow organic veg that likes it a bit warmer, including tomatoes, grapes, cucumbers and chillies. We’re always trying something new!

Fruit forest

Behind the second greenhouse is our fruit forest, which is full of redcurrants, blackcurrants, raspberries, strawberries, apples and pears. We grow them with long grass and wildflowers and quite often the birds get to the fruit before we do!

Wildlife area and pond

Our wildlife pond is just beyond the fruit garden. We see lots of frogs, damselflies and other aquatic life in there. There are also more fruit trees here, as well as planting that we let grow a bit longer and wilder, to make sure there are lots of places for wildlife to hide.

The Bee Hut

Next to our wildlife pond is the Bee Hut, where we run our Bee Mindful sessions and view the activity going on in our two beehives. You can find out more about the project on our Bee Mindful page.
