ecobirmingham – Building Greener Communities

ecobirmingham are thrilled to announce the launch of their new project – Building Greener Communities, a three-year initiative supported by the National Lottery Community Fund. This project will empower two Birmingham-based grassroots organisations, The Springfield Project in Sparkhill and Allens Cross Community Association, Northfield, to bring sustainability-focused activities and improvements to Sparkhill and Allens Cross wards. The project also looks to develop two council ward-wide sustainability action plans; aiming to empower both organisations to foster sustainable living in their communities. This will include a range of workshops and activities for residents and local organisations. The ultimate goal is to reach a tipping point where 25% of households in each ward adopt some form of regular sustainability action. Therefore creating a greener environment and promote a healthier, happier community for local residents. The experience will inform future support to other communities in Birmingham.

Some recent activities with this project have included Springfield Creative Families Festival, ‘Eco-City’ crafting, Sparkhill Family Friendly Wildlife Walk, Allens Cross Energy Advice Drop-in, Allens Cross Community Day. More updates will be coming soon so watch this space! You can find out more about ecobirmingham here.
